How to participate

Recording instructions
- Lye your child down on their back, with the chest and belly
exposed - Hold your phone in landscape
- focus the camera on your child’s chest and belly from the
side (avoid the face) - Hold the camera steady
- Record for 20-30 seconds
- Go back to study site to complete process

All children under 6 years old are encouraged to participate.
If your child has a medical condition you can tell us about it as part of the background questions.
This study is conducted under the approval of Ichilov hospital’s ethic board.
The database is secured according to the Ministry of Health regulations.

The study complies with all regulations and requirements of private data
collection.
No identifying information is collected, and if any is accidently uploaded it will be removed.
Every participant gets a unique encrypted ID. Only this ID will be attached to
the information and clip you provide.
The clip you upload will undergo a review and we will remove sections of the clip that might have accidently included your child’s face. The clip will be completely unidentifiable.
The newly developed algorithm that will activate the breathing pattern
analysis needs to be trained. To do this it needs a large database of
videos showing children’s chest and belly movements while breathing.
Your clip will be added to the database and allow the algorithm to
“learn” and identify different breathing patterns.
Every clip added to the database helps.
Yes. you can record your child in any condition- asleep, awake, healthy or sick.
Just follow the recording instructions and make sure there is enough
lighting.
At the end of the uploading process you will receive a unique ID.
If you want to remove the clip contact us and give us the ID.
We can locate the clip and remove it.

Low-Resource Countries
Pneumonia is the leading cause of mortality in children under 5 years of age, accounting for
nearly one million deaths worldwide per year, especially in countries with limited resources
and remote areas in Africa.
When a child catches pneumonia theirlungs fill with puss and fluid, causing rapid and
labored breath, with in-drawing of the chest. This is known as “increased work of breath”
(IWOB).The diagnosis of IWOB is not well defined and there are currently no objective tests
or ratings to clearly diagnose this.
The ability to have a tool and a clear measurement for diagnosis of IWOB and pneumonia,
which can be easily used anywhere, even in remote and low-resource countries will allow
better diagnosis and treatment of the condition.
Reducing Emergency Room Visits
Using a home-based monitoring tool will allow parents to identify
deterioration of breathing conditions. Parents will be able to monitor their
child’s respiratory condition and provide the correct treatment, thus
preventing deterioration and unnecessary emergency room visits.
Precision (Personolized) Medicine
Treatment by gene therapy has revolutionized the use of precision medicine
in neuromuscular diseases (NMDs) like Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Whereas respiratory failure remains a
leading cause of death in children with these diseases,

We are a Pediatric Pulmonology clinic at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, Ichilov, located in Israel.
